NHS dental charges

The NHS provides ‘clinically necessary’ treatment to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free from pain. This does not include treatment for purely cosmetic reasons such as removing stains or tooth whitening, you will need to pay for these privately. For private treatment prices, please see our private fee guide.

There are three NHS charge bands.

Band 1: £25.80

This covers an examination, x-rays if necessary, diagnosis and treatment planning and any preventative advice. It also includes scaling if this is necessary for gum health.

Band 2:  £70.70

This covers all treatment covered by Band 1 plus fillings, root treatment and extractions necessary to secure oral health.

Band 3: £306.80

This covers all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2 plus any crowns, dentures or bridges necessary to secure oral health.

Urgent treatment

If you require urgent care, you will pay a Band 1 charge of £25.80.
