Bridges

Bridges are a permanent and fixed way of filling a gap between teeth caused by one or more missing teeth.

A bridge is a false tooth which is held in place by the teeth next to it. It is usually made of a metal base and tooth coloured porcelain bonded to any visible areas to make it look natural.

Wherever possible these days we like to use adhesive bridges as they usually require very little or no preparation to adjacent teeth and mean the health of those teeth is preserved. They use the latest bonding techniques to hold the false tooth in place.

Creating a more conventional fixed bridge can be a good alternative option if the teeth either side are strong enough to support the bridge but are already crowned or have had large fillings. One or more of the neighbouring teeth will need to have crowns fixed on to them that join with the false tooth. The bridge is then cemented in to place.
